OUR PHILOSOPHY

Karate Do is the way of the empty hand. It began as a series of health developing exercises in approximately 500 A.D., and over the centuries evolved into a self-defense art. In the American Karate Do system, we practice karate for physical and mental health, as well as self-defense. In addition, it is important to remember that progress in the arts is determined by what you know, how well you do it, and your attitude.
All American Karate School has six pillars as its foundation:
  1. Karate is for SELF-MASTERY: As you train in karate, you become a better person through the development of greater self-discipline, self-confidence and self-esteem.
  2. Karate is for PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT: As you train in karate, you become a better person through the development of greater strength, balance, coordination and quickness of your mental and physical reflexes.
  3. Karate is for SELF-DEFENSE: As you train in karate, you become better able to defend yourself and your loved ones as you learn the art of self-defense that has been refined over 1500 years of practice.
  4. KATA (pre-arranged practice forms) is the heart of karate-do: It is the practice of kata that results in self-mastery, personal development, and self-defense skills.
  5. The martial arts are a UNITY: All of the martial arts share a small number of basic moves. Some experts believe that there are only 12. The differences that do exist are the result of varying applications and intermediate movements. Consequently, all of the martial arts share a common heritage and are virtually first cousins. The argument that one art is better than another seems to be unnecessary and misleading. The arts are more the same than different.
  6. TEACHING IS LEARNING Your learning of anything is enhanced by your having to teach someone else what you know. Consequently, students of All American Karate School begin to teach other students as soon as they have knowledge that can benefit another student.
